I chose ‘The Tale of a Fairy 2011 motion picture’ and ‘Scarred For Life’.

The first stimuli are ‘The tale of a Fairy 2011 motion picture’. I especially like this movie because it shows a lifestyle that is different from public perception. The protagonists of this film are mainly women. It is different from the patrilineal society we live in now. I think the movie shows a matrilineal social system. In the movie, this movie uses a variety of gorgeous scenes to illustrate the lives of rich women. I especially like the various costumes and accessories in the movie. From the beginning, the protagonist and other people's accessories can distinguish their identities. For example, rich women wear full of accessories (See Figure 1). I also appreciate the discussion about gender in the movie. In the movie, Karl Lagerfeld uses bold shots to show the characters' desire and love (See Figure 2). In this movie, we can see homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality.

The second stimuli is ‘Scarred For life’. Tracey Moffatt uses seemingly ordinary photos to explain stories about the family environment to the audience. Moffatt said that these photos could be linked into a story or one by one to understand. These seemingly everyday photos are conveying sad emotions to me. These photos give me a feeling of depression. Use different races, genders and ages to explain the harm of domestic violence to a person. Most of the victims in these photos are women and children. This implies that women and children are disadvantaged in most of society. The reason why I am interested in this work is that Moffatt uses seemingly everyday photos to show the work, but actually wants the audience to experience the scene of the victim in this photo and recall the memories from the audience. I like Moffatt's design of photo distribution. These photos can be viewed one by one or linked together. The two bring different experiences to the audience.

I think gender is fitting with these 2 stimuli I chose for my concept book exploration because these 2 stimuli all talk about the existence of gender in society from their own unique perspective. The first film discusses gender from the perspective of a rich woman, while the second photograph discusses gender from the cruel lives that exist in the world in our lives. I would choose critique to be my lens because I want to use a critical perspective to discuss gender stereotypes in the world.
